Evidence & safety

This application is a visual teaching aid. Its generated curves illustrate selected rhythm characteristics; they are not diagnostic-quality ECGs and do not represent a real person.

Do not connect this software to a patient. Do not use simulated values to make clinical decisions or practice unsupervised emergency care.

Design basis

The simulator uses a single stylized Lead II curve composed from P, Q, R, S, and T deflections. Rhythm presets change timing, regularity, visible atrial activity, QRS width, and supporting monitor values. Those features are simplified on purpose so they can be discussed in class.

Audio teaching scope

Pulse tones are synchronized either to the simulated ECG R wave or to the pleth pulse after a simulated 180 ms transit delay. The IEC-style and Infinity-style alarm profiles reproduce published timing patterns, but their synthesized timbre is not a recording or exact emulation of any certified device. Hospitals configure different monitor models differently; students should also hear the equipment used in their actual clinical placement.
